Leon is my second Northworthy guitar. He's
truly beautiful, and has Tasmanian Blackwood back, sides and headstock, a sitka
spruce top, ebony fingerboard, Rio rosewood bridge, abalone soundhole,
planewood bindings and brass pins. I'll organise more pictures when I can
borrow a digital camera again. Tasmanian Blackwood is a very interesting wood, related to Hawaiian Koa. They look very similar, but I can't comment on the similarities or otherwise of tone since I've yet to hear a Koa guitar. Leon was reviewed in the August 1997 edition of The Guitar Magazine - if you have it you can find him on pages 68-70. (He's the Carsington, not the Mayfield.) |
